Student who climbed Snowdon in Superman pants for charity gets hypothermia

A teenager who climbed Snowdon in just his Superman underpants had to
call an ambulance after getting hypothermia.

Despite falling ill at the top,  Nathan French, 19, has no regrets because the did the challenge for charity.

Nathan, Liverpool, told the Liverpool Echo: “For a while I have wanted to do something to raise money for Dementia UK. My nan has dementia so it is something that is close to my heart.
Last Saturday’s climb was the first time Nathan had scaled a mountain and ignored advice on the website Snowdon Mountain Guides which recommends climbers wear ‘extra warm clothing’ as temperatures drop near the top.
The student, who is studying sport, nutrition and health at university, said: ‘I keep fit and I am always in the gym but this was different. It was very cold and it got progressively colder the higher up we got.

‘The hardest part, and when I really started to struggle, was when I reached the top, but my dad, who did it with me, was behind me and I had to stop and wait for him.
‘That was a very long and cold five minutes waiting for him. I couldn’t physically stop shaking and we had to ring an ambulance, who saw to me when I got back down.’
