Yellow fever case discovered in Kwara State



The Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole has
confirmed a case of Yellow Fever in a young girl in OkeOwa Community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
This development was announced on Monday after laboratory diagnosis was carried out at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, while the Institut Pasteur, Dakar, Senegal confirmed it on the 12th of September 2017.
“A joint Team from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, National Primary Health Care Development Agency and the World Health Organisation Country Office has been deployed to support the State in carrying out a detailed investigation and risk analysis,” the Minister stated.
The minister made this known in a statement issued by Mrs. Boade Akinola, Director, Media and Public Relations of the ministry on Monday in Abuja and also confirmed the State Epidemiology Team has begun investigation in the affected area and surrounding communities.
