Nwankwo Kanu celebrates his 41st birthday today
Lanky former Super eagles captain and Arsenal forward, Nwanko Kanu, today
celebrates his 41st birthday. Born August 1, 1976, in Owerri, the Imo state capital located in the south eastern region of Nigeria, he played for different clubs including Inter Milan, Arsenal, West Brom, Portsmouth, and Ajax before retiring from international football in 2010.
Kanu retired from international football in 2010 but not before famously captaining Nigeria to Olympic gold in the men’s football tournament at the 1996 Olympic games.
He has 86 caps for Nigeria, scoring 13 goals in the process.

He won two African Player of the Year awards in 1996 and 1999. And FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1993.
He also won two BBC African Player of the Year in 1997 and 1999.
Kanu got married to his beautiful wife, Amarachi when she was only 18 and together they have 3 beautiful children.
He is also a renowned philanthropist particularly through the Kanu Heart Foundation which is devoted to helping children with heart defects.
