Garba Shehu refuses to pledge loyalty to Buhari over Atiku, says ‘when the time comes’

Ahead of the 2019 election, Senior Special Assistant to the
President on Media and Public Relations, Alhaji Garba Shehu has refused to disclose where his loyalty lies between President Muhammadu Buhari and his former boss Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku who recently defected from the ruling APC to the PDP has expressed his intentions to run against the current president in 2019.
Garba Shehu was asked the question of where his loyalty lies between his both bosses and he responded thus: “When the time comes you will ask the question.”
‎In a video gone viral, Garba Shehu said he does not know if the President would run in 2019, but that the president deserves a second term, citing anti-corruption as his biggest qualifier.
“He (Buhari) more than deserves a second term on account of the fact that the president has started something of a revolution in this country.
“Because it would take a revolution to transform this country from a country that did not condemn corruption at the rhetorical level, that has embraced corruption top to bottom. That’s what the President is trying to change,” he said.
He also attacked one of the top challenges of President Buhari, Sule Lamido and questioned his educational and moral qualifications to challenge him. “That Man (Sule Lamido) does he have WAEC certificate? ‎
“Even in politics there is morality. You cannot be governor, you take money from government coffers and you put in your children’s account and then you come and tell us you want to become president.
“You are undergoing trial, you do not have humility, you can’t lower your head? That’s disrespectful of Nigerians. This is a country governed by law.”
He also scored the Buhari administration high on the fight against Boko Haram, saying Boko Haram would have taken over Aso Rock if Buhari had not been President.
