Manchester City’s winning run ends, De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus injured

Manchester City have narrowly escaped defeat at Crystal Palace as their
winning run in the Premier League ends.
Goalkeeper, Ederson stopped a last-gasp penalty to save Manchester City from their first defeat of the campaign.
Before Sunday’s 0-0 stalemate at Crystal Palace the Premier League leaders have recorded 18-match winning run.
Luka Milivojevic was presented with the chance to seal a memorable victory for Roy Hodgson’s relegation-threatened side at Selhurst Park when Wilfried Zaha was brought down by Raheem Sterling in injury time.
The midfielder, however, struck his spot-kick too close to Ederson, allowing him to preserve his side’s 21-game unbeaten start to the league campaign.
It was also City’s first time of playing a Premier League game without scoring a goal since last April.
In the game, City also saw their key man Kevin De Bruyne stretchered off following an ugly challenge by Palace substitute Jason Puncheon.
Reacting, City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, also said forward Gabriel Jesus was likely to be out for up to two months after an injury early in the game.
He said, “Please, referees, they have to protect players. We were lucky against Tottenham and against Newcastle.
Today we were not lucky. “Referees have to protect. We know how strong physically it is England but teams miss big players, not just Manchester City. The replay speaks for itself. We have to protect players.”
